The reason for the "Alternate Routes" goes back to last year when Ronnie Bryant worked out the routes where we would be riding on roads with less motorist traffic.  Linda & Kevin Vinson will have all of the routes loaded on their Garmins and would be willing to lead the riders that want to try out the alternate routes.  All routes go through Edom where all riders will have lunch.

The next update is parking for the DATES Halloween Ride at Purtis Creek State Park.  Participants should plan to park at Purtis Creek State Park, at the location shown on the map below. Expect to pay $12 per team (Park Entrance fee = $5/person, plus $2/vehicle overnight parking fee). We'll gather and prep for our ride near the entrance booth. Then we'll run our vehicles down the gravel road to the overnight spot. Our lot is an isolated gravel patch reserved for our use only and isn't visible to normal park visitors. We haven't had any security issues in past years. There have been fire ants.

Finally, there will be a post-ride picnic provided by DATES at Purtis Creek State Park on Sunday.

End of Ride Update (10/22/2017):

It's that time of year again to mark your calendars for the DATES Annual Halloween Ride.  It will be pretty much the same as years past, but we may tweek the route a bit.  We will start in Purtis Creek State Park in Eustace, Texas, about an hour from Dallas and ride to Tyler.  We will pass through the scenic towns of Ben Wheeler (hitting it just in time for the annual Hog Festival parade) and then on to Edom for lunch and browsing the quaint shops and galleries.

There is NO SAG, so you will have to tote your overnight gear, food, water tools, etc....   The famous happy hour will take place again.  So bring a snack to share and your beverage of choice.  Tyler is now "wet", so you can buy your booze there (as long as you are not looking for Dom Perignon).  There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel for dinner afterward.

There will be a block of rooms under the name of DATES at the Comfort Inn and Suites.  An e-mail will be sent out when those details are nailed down with more information.

So get your bike decorations and costumes out and plan to join us!
