Pilot Point Ride – Sunday, Nov. 27
Ride Start: Pilot Point Town Square (gazebo) in Pilot Point located on US 377 eleven miles North of US 380.
Meet Time: 8:15 AM for 54 milers (8:45 AM for 38-milers)
Ride Time: 8:30 AM for 54 milers (9:00 AM for 38-milers)
- Medium route is 38 rolling miles
- Long route is 54 miles with options to shorten it by omitting certain legs of the route.
Join us at Pilot Point where the point will be to pilot our tandems through the countryside to burn off some turkey and all of that pie! This is a fairly flat, peaceful ride on quiet blacktops past horse farms and out to Lake Ray Roberts, where we ride across the dam.
As you can see by the start times, we’re going to try something different with the start. Instead of a group start, we’re going to try for a group finish. So the faster riders, who usually go the longer distance will start at 8:30 and the short-distance riders will start 30-minutes later at 9:00. If this works, the slower riders will leave the last rest stop 12 minutes before the faster riders and we’ll all finish close to each other so we can have lunch together.
There is a rest stop/convenience store at mile 12 or 21, depending on route choice, in Aubrey, and an additional stop right before crossing the dam at the Dam Store, which is about 12 miles from the finish for both distances. We’ll have a recommendation for a group lunch at the end of the ride. Hope to see you there!
