Make plans to join other DATES members for some springtime cycling in the countryside south of Dallas on Saturday, April 16. You’ll cycle through the scenic countryside of Lancaster and surrounding areas. The routes (62 miles and 42 miles) traverse a variety of terrain, from flats to rolling hills, with a few short, challenging climbs. The wildflowers are in full bloom in April and both routes feature picturesque meadows, with dense concentrations of Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, and other colorful spring flowers. Both routes will exactly follow the Lancaster Rally routes this year in order to take you by the exotic animal farm. The Lancaster Rally takes place the week before. Both routes also take you directly through the Bluebonnet Trail on beautiful and hilly Sugar Ridge Road. (note Sugar Ridge Rd is currently gravel but will be repaved prior to the rally and our ride)
The start/finish will be at the Gazebo area at the Lancaster town square. Meet at 8:30 a.m. for a group photo at 8:50 prior to rolling out at 9:00 a.m. Afterwards, we can have lunch at Chili’s about 4 miles west of the ride start, located on the east (NB) service road of I-35 just north of Beltline. Cue sheets & a map will be handed out on the day of the ride. (do not use the ridewithgps cue sheet – mine is better/more info)
Note: there are no restroom facilities at the ride start.
Note: we can use Sunday, the 17th in case of undesirable weather on the 16th.
Ride start: Heritage Park, 250 North Dallas Avenue, Lancaster, TX 75146
Chili's: 530 North I-35 East, Lancaster, TX 75146 (972) 223-3140
