Horsey Hundred Tandem Rally
Do you ride a tandem? If so, some of our Bluegrass Cycling Club members who ride tandems want to invite you to join them for a few special tandem-focused activities Horsey Hundred weekend.
Friday Tandem Ride – If you come to town early, Mike Wirth and Pell Wardrop will be leading a tandem ride on Friday, May 27th from Darlin Jean’s Apple Cobbler Café in Midway at 1:00 p.m.. They plan to arrive at Darlin Jean’s to eat lunch before the ride around 11:45 a.m. if you would like to join them for a bite before. The route will travel from Midway to Versailles and back and is approximately 26 miles.
Friday Evening Tandem “Meet and Greet” Under the Big Tent - Additional details will be provided as we get closer to the event, but our tandem team leaders plan to organize a meet and greet for tandem teams under the big tent on the Georgetown College campus on Friday evening.
Saturday and Sunday Tandem Meet-Up - We will have a special meet up place for tandem teams who want to ride with other tandem teams on Saturday and Sunday mornings on the starting circle. There will be an easily-identified “Tandem Team” banner on the starting circle. Meeting time both days is 8:15 a.m. and we will take a tandem team photo of the group each day at 8:20 a.m.. The planned route for Saturday is the metric century and for Sunday the 52 mile route, although teams may meet up and decide to ride one of the other distances.
Tandem Storage – Tandem storage will be available in the Davis-Reid Alumni Gymnasium on the Georgetown College Campus for those of you planning to stay in dorms.
The Horsey Hundred is not an official tandem rally, but we’re hoping to rally tandem teams to join us for a fabulous time!!!
